At a stroke, the Ferrari has become the most valuable car in the world, overtaking the 1954 Mercedes W196 R F1 Racer which sold for $30m at an auction at the 2013 Goodwood Festival of Speed. Tellingly, seven of the top 10 most expensive cars ever sold at auction were Ferraris (see our list below).

Ecclestone wants to bring the noise

FORMULA ONE supremo Bernie Ecclestone has vowed to address growing concerns surrounding the sport's lack of an appealing noise. Following Sunday's season-opening Australian Grand Prix, Ron Walker, chairman of the organising company that stages the race, complained to close friend Ecclestone about the lack of sound. The piercing scream of the old V8 engine has gone, and in its place we now have a huskier tone, complete with whistles and whirrs from the 1.6-litre V6 turbo as F1 tries to become greener.

Ford doubles sales of the C-Max and Grand C-Max Ford has revealed that the new C-Max and Grand C-Max have doubled their sales and market share in Europe in the last twelve months. Although it’s two years since Ford revealed the C-Max and Grand C-Max at the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009, it took another year for the new Fords to hit the market. But since the C-Max duo hit showrooms in late 2010, they’ve certainly made up for lost time.
